National Grid identified a need to reinforce the National Gas Transmission network.
In order to meet this requirement a new 1220mm NB fully welded buried steel pipeline is to be installed between Asselby and Pannal. This new pipeline will interconnect two pipelines currently under construction Ganstead to Asselby and Pannal to Nether Kellet. The termination points of the pipeline will be to two existing National Grid Above Ground Installations (AGIs) called Asselby and Pannal, with a 62km pipeline linking the sites. Aberford to Pannel pipeline was constructed by Murphy pipelines and Asselby to Aberford and Asselby AGI was constructed by Laing O’Rourke. QEM Services worked with Laing O’Rourke for the construction phase of the project. The QEM Services role was to provide QA and Engineering services. The specific roles were:
