Subject: EuropeAid project: Emergency Priority Actions for Security and Improvement of Exploitation Conditions for Gas Transportation Systems in Central Asia

QEMS participated in the above project as a sub-contractor to WYG International and took responsibility principally for design and implementation of a training programme focussing on the reduction of pipeline incidents on the Bukhara-Tashkent-Bishkek-Almaty main gas transmission line over a distance of some 700km located on the territories of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. The technical assistance and training were provided to staff of the transmission companies KyrKazGaz, KyrgyzGas and Intergas Central Asia.

A series of five Workshops were held, each at a different location, at which some 100 transmission company staff attended. The training programme was designed by QEMS and a significant part of it was delivered by them. Subjects covered included hazard identification, risk analysis, risk reduction and emergency response. The degree of interest shown by the participants and the high level of appreciation shown in feedback documents reflected extremely well for QEMS.

As a result of our excellent collaboration with QEMS, we subsequently invited them to participate in another Central Asian gas pipeline technical assistance project which is currently being implemented.
